IMBERAL® FAB 89ZH

Joint sealing tape, highly elastic, hot-air-weldable
CHARACTERISTICS
IMBERAL® FAB 89ZH is a highly elastic, hot-air-weldable joint sealing tape with good resistance to chemicals. Its special edge structure allows it to be very easily embedded into the corresponding sealing compound.

    INGREDIENTS
    Elastomer, fleece

      USE
IMBERAL® FAB 89ZH is used to cover and seal structural joints of buildings as well as expansion and construction joints in areas in contact with the soil. It is usually bonded to the building part with a polymer-modified thick bituminous coating or with an elastic waterproofing slurry.

      Areas of application:

      • Structural joints of buildings
      • Expansion joints
      • Waterproofing with polymer-modified thick bitumen
      • Waterproofing with flexible waterproofing slurry

      QUANTITY REQUIRED
      Per linear meter1 m

        PREPARATION OF THE SURFACE
The substrate must be prepared according to the processing instructions of the sealant and/or adhesive to be used. As a rule, substrates must be firm, sound and free of dust, dirt and other adhesion-inhibiting substances.

          APPLICATION
          1. Cut off the required length of tape.
2.Precoat the joint faces, e.g. with a polymer-modified thick bituminous coating. Press the fleece edges of the tape into the wet sealing just applied.
3.Then coat the tape edges with a polymer-modified thick bituminous coating or a similar sealant. Make sure that the grey area is also covered to a width of about 2 cm wide.
4.To glue the joint sealing tapes to each other, use a hot-air dryer to heat the plastic of the tape until it starts to liquefy. Press the second tape into this liquefied plastic (use a solid sheet or plate underneath). Once the plastic has cooled down, the connection is watertight and guarantees tensile strength.
5.If the tape is subject to tensile forces, it is recommended to use epoxy resin HADALAN® MBH 12E together with Stellmittel, HADALAN® SM 57DD to glue the tape to the substrate.
6.After finishing the waterproofing works, remove the fleece cover from the joint sealing tape to achieve a clean and precise joint appearance.
7.Always protect sealed joints before filling, so that no compressive and/or tensile forces could act upon the tape.

          IMPORTANT NOTES
          • Make sure that the edges of the tape are uniformly
          • Do not cover the tape completely with the corresponding sealant, but leave an adequately sized expansion zone uncovered.
          • To prevent cracking or detachment of the adhesion region, do not allow tensile forces to be transmitted to the tape.
          • Before filling up the foundation trench, protect the joint sealing tape with adequate protection systems.
          • As a rule, follow the processing instructions specified on the corresponding sealant used.
          • In areas not covered by earth, the joint sealing tape must be protected against the effects of weathering. Make sure that this protection does not impair the function of the tape.

          SAFETY PROVISIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS
          No special measures required.

            DISPOSAL
The local waste removal regulations must be observed.
